FISHERIES WORKING GROUP (2010)

The main goal of the FWG is to maximize the benefits of the APEC´s members which can be obtained from fishery resources, based on sustainable management practices.

Vision

Fisheries Working Group, taking into account the strategic objectives of APEC and the international community in general, will seek to maximize the benefits that APEC members can extract from their fisheries resources, based on sustainable management practices, by improving cooperation within fisheries.

FWG Objectives

1. Advancing APEC Strategic objectives and responding to emerging regional priorities.
2. Supporting and promoting domestic implementation of sustaible practices across the seafood value chain;
3. Supporting the development and regional implementation of global fisheries and aquaculture practices that help ensure sustainability and an economically viable industry and
4. Supporting an promoting trade liberalisation and facilitation in fish and fisheries products to eliminate distortions and barriers that restrict access to markets.
